#60: Don't Be Too Hard On Yourself

Take it easy peasy.

“Further, any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomforts.” — How to Live on 24 Hours a Day by Arnold Bennett

Learning, like healing, is never linear. Sometimes you'll take one step forward and then three steps back. You'll maintain a habit streak for hundreds of days and then restart and go back to Day 1. You'll learn healthy ways to self-soothe but once in a while break down and yearn for someone else to comfort you.

But these moments don't cancel out the progress you've made. Actually, they're like little checkpoints—opportunities for you to bounce back better than you would've a week ago, a month ago, or a year ago.

So when you stumble, don't be the first to criticize yourself. Be your own cheerleader, and don't be too harsh on you.
