#57: You're On Your Own

It's lonely...and liberating.

Even when you're surrounded by people, we're on our own.

It's up to us to soothe ourselves when we're down, to pick ourselves up when we fall apart, and to celebrate the wins only we can witness.

It is lonely—the idea that no one could ever truly know us the way we know ourselves, that people only see us through the lens of their own hopes and history.

It is liberating—the responsibility to look after oneself, the power to make choices (and mistakes), and the strength to hold our own.
